Something to think about Before you adopt a puppy.

We extensively researched both the IG breed and the lines that are out there before we chose the dogs for our foundation. We did this because we do not believe in just breeding anything, we want to produce healthy sound puppies and dogs.  To do this you must start with healthy sound dogs, it is very risky to breed inferior dogs: ones with health and genetic issues that should not be  in hopes that the puppies will come out the better dog. You will find a lot of breeders out there that do just that they put 2 dogs together just because they are pretty (or sometimes not)  without researching the lines and knowing what is behind them. MOSA IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK BY BREEDING SUCH DOGS!

Our primary concern is for our puppies and dogs.

What this means for you is sound, healthy puppies and dogs with a much lower risk for any major health problems.

We know that you may be able to get a puppy cheaper from breeders who breed dogs that should not be or that do not do the necessary research and work to better ensure the health of the dogs they are breeding, not only physical but mental.  But ask yourself is the risk in buying the cheaper puppy worth it?

Think about it in terms of long term VS. short term.

Is it better to buy the cheaper puppy and save a couple hundred dollars up front and risk it developing medical issues in a few months or years? Issues that could cost you hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars over the life of the puppy, and possible suffering for you and the dog,or worse yet causing you to have to end your dogs life prematurely. All because of trying to save money when you  bought your puppy. You really didn't save and caused yourself and the puppy undo hardship.

When you make the decision to adopt a MOSA Italian Greyhound you may pay more in the short term but, because we are so selective with our dogs in the long term you save money and heartache by getting a puppy or dog that is healthy and that saves you possibly hundred or thousands of dollars in vet bills over the life of the dog. Which makes up for the slight difference in price initally. You are also getting peace of mind with MOSA IGs. All of our puppies and dogs come with a written health gurantee. This is our promise and just part of our gurantee to you that if your dog or puppy develops  any gentetic health problems we will be there for you and your puppy (click here for full gaurantee). We will work with you to resolve the issue not just leave you without any options or support and a sick dog.

You also get support for the life of your puppy or dog, we are here for you and will gladly answer any questions or concerns you may have for any reason. No question is irrelevant to us because it is important to you. If we don't have the answer you are looking for we will use all of our resources to find your answer and get back to you.

When you decide on a MOSA IG you are not "buying" a dog like you are from most breeders, you are truly adopting a family companion and become an extended part of our family. Our dogs are always a part of our family even when they don't live with us as they came from our home and we continue to love and have their best interst at heart no matter the distance they may be.

                About placing a deposit.

We understand that this is a big decsion for most people and to make it more affordable for you, deposits and payments are accepted. (see policy page for full terms). The deposit is $500.00 but if needed we will work with you but must be no less than $250.00, this will be deducted from the total price (adoption fee) of the puppy or dog. If you are adopting a puppy the balance is due by the time it is 6 weeks old. If it is an older puppy or dog past 8 weeks of age the balance is due 2 weeks after your inital deposit, unless arrangements are made in advance (this is at our discretion, but we are flexible).

  Verbal Contract.

By placing a deposit on a MOSA italian Greyhound you are making a verbal contract with us to adopt the puppy or dog. By doing so you are saying you have read and completely understand the contract terms and condition. If after placing the deposit you decide you have changed your mind you lose your deposit and any other money you have paid.   If  for some reason the IG you have chosen should become unavailble due to health reasons or the unforseeable happens to it your deposit and any other money you paid will be applied to another litter or dog.

 Options for payment

To ensure payments are processed and timely applied to your IG  payment must be made by: Cashiers Check, Certified Check, Postal Money Order, or Zelle.

(Zelle is an app. most banks offer as a way to transfer money fast and easy using only phone numbers and names. You sign up with your bank through the app. No one but you has access to your information. It is fast, safe and easy.)

Web address: https://www.zellepay.com

We do accept personal checks at our discretion for deposits and payments, but if a check is presented for the final payment the puppy will not be allowed to leave for at least 2 weeks after the payment or once the payment has cleared our bank.

.

What does it mean to reserve a pick of the litter?

Reserving a pick of the litter puppy simply means you are placing a deposit now on an upcoming litter, either from a particular pairing or individual dog you may like that has not yet arrived and in some instances not been bred. This guarantees you get your pick of that particular litter (based on the preferences and sex you request and excluding any puppies MOSA retains for ourselves)  BEFORE the litter is made available to anyone else.

Otherwise puppies are adopted on a first-come-first serve basis as are all remaining puppies after those with advance deposits have made their choices. Pick of the litter will be made in the order that deposits are received. You are given 3 days to decide on your puppy at that time they are made available to others (understand puppies grow and we can not hold them indefinitely). The amount of the deposit for pick of the litter must be a minimum of $500.00, the same as a deposit placed on any other MOSA IG. The deposit is then deducted from the total price (adoption fee) of the puppy you choose. Once the puppies arrive and you have made your choice and confirmed with us the balance is due by the time the puppy is 6 weeks old.

.Keep in mind we can not guarantee that a particular litter will produce a puppy that meets your specific requests. In that instance if there is another puppy of the same sex in that litter  you may choose that puppy or one from another litter that you like (if it is not already reserved) or you can wait and apply it to another upcoming litter.

We require the same application and interview process for pick of the litter just as we do for any other puppy or dog. Just because you are getting pick of the litter does not mean we skip any of the steps to ensure the puppy is placed in the proper home.

Payment options are the same as above.

How much do the puppies cost?

Remember MOSA mainly adopts their puppies and dogs on companion contract with limited registration which is what the prices are for. On rare occasions we may adopt a puppy or dog on a show contract with full registration. This is rare as most are adopted as companions so if you want prices for a show puppy with full registration you will have to speak with us. (Just because you discuss getting a full registration for your puppy or dog does not guarantee we will agree to it. It must be for the right reason and only when we feel that reason is responsible and must know you.) We do not believe in adopting any puppy or dog for the sole purpose of breeding, if a dog is not show quality we will not even consider adopting it on a show/breeding agreement.

The adoption fee prices on the puppies are standard as the each puppy is equal in every aspect. Please note the adoption fee may vary and may change. The determination  is based on each individual puppy. Our adoption fee prices range $1,350.00 up to $2,500.00 for limited registration. It is rare you will see a puppy adoption fee lower than $1,350.00 because we strive for the same high standard in every breeding and it is rare that a puppy in one of our litters does not have show potential or does not meet our high standards, unless there are special circumstances.

Adoption fees are $1700.00 unless indicated otherwise with the exception of our cream/white puppies the adoption fee is $2,500. On rare occassion we will have reserve a litter which means we do not plan to release puppies from this litter ( this is a litter apart from our coming litters that we do not place on the upcoming litter list)  or we will have our pick ( a puppy we hold back for ourselves),  occassionaly we will make puppies available from the reserve litter or our pick puppy, puppies from our reserve litters or our pick  are $2500 for any color other than the cream;white which are $3000. If you have questions feel free to ask.. If we agree to allow one of puppies to be shown (which is rare due to risk of the dog being mistreated or in conditions other than as a family member) the risk to the dog is higher so the adoption fees for Show puppies are higher and not on this site and the contracts are even more stringent to protect the dog.

Please remember deposits and adoption fees are verbal contracts that a puppy is being adopted and resereved for you  If you should change your mind at any time Deposits and Adoption fees paid are non refundable.  This is not Walmart we are dealing with living beings with emotions, these are family members not merchandise.

What else do I get with my puppy or dog?
When you receive your MOSA IG the Dew-claws are intact unless indicated (we will do our best to have dew-claws removed if requested on puppies that have been selected before 3 days old. Unless there were circumstances preventing dew claw removal such as a difficult labor) and it is current on all vaccinations and worming, they also come with the following;
* AKC registration (we only allow and register our dogs with AKC and CKC; Canadian Kennel club)
*Pedigree
*Pictures of your puppy (sent to you via email for you to print if you wish)
*Support for the life of your puppy. We are here for you before and after each step of the way.
*We also offer "Guaranteed Placement".  We understand things happen sometimes that make it impossible for you to keep your IG. This is to give you peace of mind in knowing your loved IG will be taken care of in that event.
*A spay/neuter agreement for companion puppies or a show/breeding agreement for show puppies.

Do not think that because you are adopting a MOSA puppy on a companion contract it is any less quality than one adopted on a show contract. We adhere to the same standards for all of our Puppies; remember show and companion puppies come from the same parents and litters. Adopting a puppy on a companion contract only protects that the puppy or dog will NEVER be bred and will be spayed or neutered.

We do accept/offer payment plans for approved homes.

Please refer above for the terms and options or ask for details.

How do you ship my puppy?

We prefer our families come in person to pick up thier new baby but understand not everyone can so in those rare circumstances we  do our very best to try and ensure the shipping process is as easy and stress free as possible for both you and your puppy. Our first priority and we know you agree is for the safety, comfort, and well being of your puppy during travel to insure that it arrives safely and in great condition.

For the puppy this means making sure it knows the crate a few days before it is shipped, also making certain that it is comfortable and feels safe during the flight.  To ensure it is comfortable and to aid in collecting any potty the puppy may do we put lots of shredded paper in the crate. To aid in making the puppy feel safe we put its blanket and toy/treat in so it has something it is familiar.

We also provide a  frozen Water/karo syrup/pedialyte mixture for hydration and maintaining your pup's sugar/electrolyte level to avoid shock as well as food inside the crate.

To make it easy and less stressful for you, we do everything necessary to prepare your puppy for the flight. A couple days prior to the flight your puppy is taken to the vet for it's final check up and to get the health certificate it needs in order to fly. We confirm the date of flight available with you and make all the flight reservations with the airport. We will email you the flight information and call you once your puppy has been shipped. Once your puppy has arrived and you have picked it up please call us back to let us know the puppy made it safely and that you have him/her.

Where do you ship from and what airline?

Our puppies & dogs are shipped from Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU). We have chosen to ship through Continental/United Airlines because they have the "Pet Safe" program. This means your puppy flies in a climate/pressure-controlled section of the plane specifically for pets.

Please keep in mind that even though this is much more comfortable and safe for your puppy all flights are still subject to the conditions of the weather as well as the Airlines discretion, insuring it is not too hot or cold.

We will do our very best to ship your puppy to the airport closest to you. But because of the economy and the ever increasing fuel costs all airlines have been hard hit and have decreased their employees and the number of flights they make.

Continental/United continues to ship to most major airports with the larger planes that have the climate controlled areas for pets but, they use shuttle flights to smaller airports which are not equipped with the climate controlled areas for pets. This means the cities we can ship to are limited and the airport your puppy is shipped to may not be as close to you.

(If you prefer an airline other than Continental or a ground service, we would be happy to discuss it with you and assist you in making the appropriate arrangements. Keep in mind; it is your personal request and not MOSA's standard carrier. By doing this you assume all responsibility for your puppy/dog as well as any additional shipping cost that may be involved.)

There are also ground transport companies our families have used  if interested please inquire. If you do select ground transport just as with the airlines once the puppy leaves our home and possesion we are no longer responsible and have no liablity the liability is between you and the transport company you choose.

Where will you ship to?

We currently ship to all 50 states in the US as well as Canada (For some states such as Alaska, Hawaii and possibly Canada there may be different restrictions to be met and higher fees for the families). We will consider shipment to overseas locations on an individual basis. The price of shipment and all costs associated with shipment to areas other than the US vary as do the requirements for shipping.

(Adult dogs or those with reduced prices will not be shipped overseas. Canada is not considered oversease.)

What will the total shipping cost?

Your total shipping cost will usually be approximately $450. ( $320 freight/air fuel charge + $45 for health/shipping certificate +  $85 (for the kennel and shipping suppllies.) (The price quoted  for shipping  is only valid in the US not valid for dogs shipped outside of the US.)

Due to the fuel costs the airlines have added an additional fuel charge which may slightly increase the price.

The shipping will be more in some cases;

For a puppy or dog that is older or larger it will be approximately $35.00 for the larger kennel and shipping charge. Also if a puppy is over 4 months of age it is required to have a rabies shot which is $25.00 additional.

Shipping to Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, or any other overseas destination may cost more due to different requirements. Before shipping we will confirm the costs and let you know what the total will be.

If you have any questions please contact us and we will do our best to answer them or find the answer for you.
